Independent East End guide
A practical west-to-east guide to burger counters, diners, pubs and restaurants along Queen Street East, Gerrard Street East and Coxwell Avenue.

At a glance
The tightest cluster is at 678–758 Queen Street East, where The Comrade shifts the route from counter service to a sit-down tavern stop. Continue east on Queen for The Roy, Ricky+Olivia and Goods & Provisions, or move north for the Gerrard Street East branch before finishing near Coxwell. The route diagram is editorial, not a distance calculation.

Prime Rib Burger
The Comrade’s long-standing prime-rib tavern burger.
The Comrade is the point where Burger Alley shifts from counter-service burgers to a proper late-night tavern. Its long-standing prime-rib burger is one of the corridor’s defining stops: a richer, sit-down interpretation positioned only steps east of the Riverside smash-burger cluster.
Best for: the tavern burger

The response record
They built The Comrade, sold it, and left its cult burger behind. Then Goods & Provisions answered with Wagyu, cheddar and caramelized onions.
The Comrade has the anthem. This is the response record—the AND1 Mixtape, the Ether, the burger equivalent of a diss track aimed at a very good burger. Same lineage. More flex.
Goods & Provisions owners Nikki Andriet and Dean Fletcher previously owned The Comrade. They opened Goods & Provisions in 2011 and later sold The Comrade to the team behind Wynona so they could concentrate on this restaurant. The new owners kept The Comrade’s famous prime-rib-brisket burger.
